We would also like to thank the volunteers from Uniontown Flower Club, the churches and other community organizations who came out and worked so hard weeding, raking, cutting, sweeping and cleaning. By |2014-05-14T17:31:33+00:00May 14th, 2014|Uncategorized|

IMG_1295Helping Hands Day is an opportunity for youths and adults to put their energy to work at a common task. At Mount Saint Macrina, Sat., June 7 is the day for action.

Once again this year, the Greek Catholic Union is partnering with the youth and young adults of the Archeparchy in a day dedicated to beautify the grounds of Mount Saint Macrina in preparation for the 80th Annual Pilgrimage.

This is a team effort all the way. Parishes, individuals and organizations are invited to join in and volunteer in this Pilgrimage preparation day.

Get your youth involved and show the GCU/Byzantine Catholic pride that we have in the Sisters of St. Basil.

To volunteer, please contact Christie Petty at 1-800-722-4428, ext. 3923 or Sr. Carol at 724-438-7149.

Some members of the Blessed Theodore Romzha Society with Sister Barbara Jean – Joseph Hartsek of Dayton, Ohio, Kristina Danovich of Phoenix, Arizona, and Luke Iyengar of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, the President of the Society.

The Byzantine Catholic students attending Franciscan University who formed the Blessed Theodore Romzha Society recently invited Sister Barbara Jean to present the documentary “Interrupted Lives” and to speak about the situation in Ukraine.

Sister shared stories and photos of her experiences in the years of rebuilding religious life with the Sisters of St. Basil in Eastern Europe. There was also a display of hand-crafted items made in Ukraine.  The group agreed to continue fervent prayers for peace and stability in Ukraine where many Byzantine Catholics reside.  The largest Province of Sisters of St. Basil is in Ukraine with over 150 members.
